Privacy Policy

We sell donuts, not data. This page explains the small amount of information that passes through hivedonuthut.ca, why it exists, and how to reach us about it.

Who we are

The Hive Donut Hut operates the website at hivedonuthut.ca and hivedonuthut.com (the “Website”). Our shop is at 27253 Fraser Hwy, Aldergrove, BC, and you can reach us at (604) 607-0817.

This policy covers the Website, the forms we link out to, and the information that reaches us from online orders. It does not cover what happens in the shop or on our social media pages — see Places we send you below.

What the Website collects

There are no sign-ups, accounts, or payment fields on this Website, and no forms built into it. Two pages — Donation Requests and Join the Hive — link out to forms we run on Google Forms, and what you send us there is described under Forms we ask you to fill in below.

Two things do happen automatically:

  • Server logs. Like nearly every website, ours records standard technical details of each visit — your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the time, and the page you came from. These logs are kept by our hosting provider and are used only to keep the site running securely and to fix problems.
  • One browser setting. If you turn the site’s animations down using the motion toggle, that choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage so the site remembers it next time. It never leaves your device and never reaches us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics tools, or tracking pixels on this Website.

Forms we ask you to fill in

Our Donation Requests and Join the Hive pages each link to a form hosted on Google Forms. The form opens in a new tab on Google’s site, but the answers come to us, so this policy covers them.

  • Donation request form. Your name, contact details, the organization or event, and whatever you tell us about what you’re planning. We use it only to consider and respond to your request.
  • Application form. Your name, contact details, availability, and the background you choose to share. We use it only to consider you for work with us and to get in touch about it.

Filling in either form is entirely up to you — you are always welcome to phone us or come by the shop instead. We do not add form respondents to any mailing list, and we do not share what you send with anyone outside the Hive.

Google hosts these forms and stores the responses for us on servers in the United States, under its own privacy and security practices. Because that information is stored outside Canada, it may be accessible to authorities there under the laws of that country.

How we use it

Server log information is used for security, troubleshooting, and keeping the site online. We do not use it for marketing, we do not build profiles from it, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

What you send us through a form or an online order is used only for the reason you sent it — to answer your request, consider your application, or fill your order. We do not sell or rent any of it.

We may disclose information if we are required to by law, or where it is necessary to investigate a security incident or protect our rights, our staff, or our customers.

Hosting and where information is stored

The Website is hosted by iWebFusion (H4Y Technologies LLC), a United States company that operates data centres in the United States. Server logs for the Website are therefore created and stored on servers in the United States, and our host handles them on our behalf under its own privacy and security practices.

Because that information is stored outside Canada, it may be accessible to U.S. courts, law enforcement, and government authorities under the laws of that country. We mention this so you can make an informed choice about visiting the site.

Content loaded from elsewhere

A few parts of the site are served by other companies. When your browser loads that content, it has to connect to their servers, and those companies will see your IP address and basic browser information:

  • Cloudflare (cdnjs). Our animation and icon libraries load from Cloudflare’s public code network.
  • Behold. Our Instagram feed on the home page is displayed using the Behold widget, which pulls in our public Instagram posts.

We do not control these services and this policy does not govern them. Their own privacy policies apply to the information their servers receive.

Our “Order Now” buttons open our online shop at order.hivedonuthut.ca, which we run on Shopify. It carries our name and sits on our domain, but it is a separate system from this Website: Shopify hosts it, sets its own cookies there, and handles payment. We never see or store your full card number, and Shopify’s own privacy policy governs how it processes payments and guards against fraud.

The rest of what you enter — your name, contact details, and what you ordered — does come to us. We use it only to prepare your order, hand it over, and sort out any problem with it. Shopify stores that information for us on servers outside Canada.

Our donation request and application forms also open on Google’s site. While you are filling one in, Google’s privacy policy governs what Google does there; what happens to your answers once they reach us is covered by this policy.

The same goes for our Instagram and Facebook pages, and for any other site we link to. Once you leave hivedonuthut.ca, the privacy policy of the site you land on takes over.

How long we keep things

Server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for security and troubleshooting, and are deleted on a routine basis after that. We do not track Website visitors or build any database of them.

Online orders, donation requests, and applications are kept only as long as we have a reason to keep them. Orders stay in our Shopify records so we can handle refunds, questions, and our bookkeeping. Donation requests are cleared once the event has passed and we have finished dealing with it, and applications are kept on file for a period afterwards in case something opens up. If you would like yours removed, email us and we will take care of it.

Children

Everyone is welcome to browse our menu, and we know that young people apply to work with us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this Website. If someone under 13 has sent us information through one of our forms, a parent or guardian can contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Your rights

Under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or make a complaint about how we have handled it. Write to us at the address below and we will respond within the time the law allows.

You can also block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will not stop you from using this Website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date near the top of this page, and the updated version takes effect as soon as it is posted here. This version replaces our previous policy dated August 13, 2026.
