Our Story
Many people ask how The Hive Donut Hut came to be….and this is our story.
Chapter One
A lot of donut shops
Through out the years, my entrepreneurial husband Chris and I of 30 years, have spent much time travelling, and with his love of food and treats, we’ve spent a lot of that time exploring many interesting and delicious donut, coffee, and desert shops..
Chapter Two
The daydream
We became interested in the donut industry simply by the love of good food, the excitement of other shops, and the desire to create a welcoming space that we envisioned together. Our times spent day-dreaming about a place where true customer service as in “the good old days” was top priority. We dreamed of making each and every guest have a wonderful and memorable experience including being in the most welcoming space and having the most delicious treats, and the space to enjoy with friends, and family.
Chapter Three
Enter Riley
As the same time our day dreams were beginning, it just so happened that our son, Riley, who has a true passion for food, was just going through his Red-Seal chef course. This seemed like a great pairing and the perfect opportunity to dive into something amazing. Riley and Chris set off to “Donut School” to learn everything they need to know to get started. Since we were all born and raised in Langley/ Aldergrove, it was just fitting to find a great spot in the same area to share our new adventure with the community.
Chapter Four
A major leap of faith
While my husband was turning the corner in his own self-employment career, and preparing to retire, Riley and I took the reins and a major leap of faith. After being a stay at home mom for the entirety of my adult life, this was a moment for me to step into something new, and a way for my son to jumpstart his career in an exciting way. Literally the icing on the “donut” is the fact that we get to work together every day! His joy of cooking for others, and creating wonderful flavours in creative ways bring some exciting opportunities for our guests. We worked hard to find a team that shared the same goals and values as we do, and would help us to bring our vision to life.
What we hope for you
We have made it our top priority for our guests to have a place to gather with friends, and family and enjoy the little things in life, and create memories together. Donuts, coffee, smiles and laughter. We love more than anything to share in those moments with you all. It has been one of our greatest pleasures to get to know many locals, share good food, and great laughs together. We hope to continue this concept in a place and neighbourhood that has been so welcoming to us from day one!
